Problems you may face while working in a BHU.
Problems you may face while working in a BHU.
1. In a BHU the medical officer is incharge of both as a doctor and as administrator. Which means u r responsible for not just patient care but also for the keep and maintenance of the whole building.
2. You will be responsible for cleanness of the building, repairs of building, bills, tree counts, etc and u are required to be available in BHU 24/7 even after duty hours (if u r given residency in BHU)
3. The biggest problem you will face is managing medicine record and the staff. Dispenser and LHVs there do not want a medical officer on their head. They are at more freedom when MO is not in charge. So they will try their best to kick you out. They will 1st offer you to come late or do under the cover absents assuring you that they will cover for you. But in reality they will sell you out as soon as possible so that u will b removed from the center.
4. The staff take medicine home or use it to run their private practice. They sell equipment and
use BHU ground for cultivation. They may give u bad reputation in Village. The staff is usually local. And by "staff" i meann all employees there.
5.Then there is issue of teams that visit BHU. Usually edo asks one of his lower staff like clerk to keep eye on BHU. That will make a clerk ur boss in practical. He will think himself as edo and disrespect doctor. (For WMO it is more troublesome as he will try to get unbearable)
6. There are multiple teams that will visit BHU without notice to check if Doctor is punctual and working effectively. Now there is biometric at BHU. DHO, DDHO, EDO (his staff) and EME (army monitors) will pop up in urBHU at different time and u will b held responsible for any issue.
7. You will b called for meetings on different issue at edo or DHO office frequently at off duty hours. Especially during polio or measles. U are also vocal person and also responsible for sanitation of Village through sanitary inspector working under you and for vaccination through vaccinator under u.
How to manage BHU and avoid problems (adhoc MO/WMO)
1. Try to ignore what staff of BHU tells you about other staff members. They complain a lot but if u ask them to give u a written complaint then 99% of them shuts up.
2. If they give you any written complain then mark that complain and diary it to EDO office .Its simplest way to manage their continuous complaints
3. Try not to interfere the delicate balance of medicine record
:D .This will give you lots of problem. If they ask you to keep minimum limit of medicine to show it to MEA then let them be.No one will listen to you high above regarding this.

4. Never trust any staff member .If they say that you may come late and they will lie for you and
5. Never give anything against rules or protocol in written. The only proof against you is a written proof. If higher authority ask you to do something that is not regular then ask them to giv u order in written.
6. It is fruitless to complain against a staff in written to edo office.Usually that bring no result and its embarrassing for the doctor.
7. Remember that you are there to get CIP marks. So study and get away from it as soon as possible
8. Avoid issuing purchase or repair orders etc. That is difficult work and staff of BHU push u to do it.They usually get profit from it.Try never to spend a penny on BHU from ur own pocket.
9. DO NOT PAY electicity bills or any perchi fees.If dispensar tells u that wapda will cut the electricity then tell them to let it cut.Let them pay the bills.I came to know of this problem recently and editing the post to include this point. They will eventually pay the bills.Wo permanent staff hy jo wahan hi rehta hy.ap ko jana b per sakta.ap kahan letay raho gay pesay gov se.
Because you are an adhoc MO/WMO so staff and admin do not take you seriously. So its better to avoid conflict. For regular MOs its very different.Once you be experienced enough ,u b able to handle stuff.
