Many of new doctors are worried about getting a show cause notice.What is a show cause notice?
It is a simple letter to you from the administration of a hospital asking you to explain your particular action.And 99% of the time it goes to cold storage after ur response.Mostly they issue such notice to threat the young doctor as you get panic after a showcause notice.
Remember that If you have not received a Show cause notice then it means you are working correctly
and verbal threats or orders of your superior are just baseless threats.Never respond to a verbal order if
you think that it is not fair.
If administration do serve you a notice then there is no need to panic.It is routine procedure.Always give proper written response and state the facts .Always save a copy of ur response after diary.
The reason for these notices is to keep record and to produce it in case they want to set an inquiry.No one can kick you out with a notice.In gov setup every doctor has a right of inquiry.And inquiry results can b challenged above from local hospital board to district board and to provincial board.Even a show
cause notice can b reproduced in court so administration is very reluctant to issue any notice that can go against them.They usually count on verbal threats only.
You can even challenge any notice or order given to you by a superior in court.For example if a SMO or
MS or EDO is trying to make a WMO issue male MLC while there is any male doctor present at that
center... they will never give you written orders in that case, neitheir they will issue a showcause notice
if u refuse to do such MLC
.Because they are making you do their job 
Now if an SMO , MS , and edo (CEO) ask you to do something that you think is inappropriate or you
suspect that it can get you in trouble then simply ignore them.They try to make you do things with
verbal commands and threats but in reality they cannot give you a written order. Ask them to give you a
written order. They will never give you any written order which they think can b challenged in a board or
in court. They have to produce a valid reason in written in order to terminate you (adhoc) or transfer
you (you cannot terminate a regular MO.Not even PM pakistan.Its a very lengthy and very difficult
procedure).So ignore any such verbal orders. Best way is to say "yes sir" at that moment and then simply
ignore it.He will either give you a written order or will back off from unfair demand.
Now remember DCO has no authority over doctors directly.They work by ordering MS or EDO.MS and
EDO never agree to any demand from a DCO that can endanger their jobs.So do not pay much attention
to what DCO is saying or a politician is saying.Its not your headache.
Now i advise you to lay low for couple of months after you start a new job. Always remember in
practical life in P&S department nobody comes for ur aid when you will b in trouble.So never do any
favors.They can b really selfish.Its not the teaching hospital and they are not you teachers who will
protect you.Everyone here has a job.Most problem creates when seniors try to make you do their jobs
because they are doing private clinics.If someone treats you fairly then treat them fairly and if someone
tries to bully you then return the favor.
And remember not everyone there is bad person.I wrote this post keeping in mind the worst case
scenario. This is not to make you go head on with seniors.Try to work things out with negotiation .
